The Survey Corps

The Survey Corps recently caught the attention of anime fans across the Internet with their Attack on Titan-themed dance video. Attendees can watch them live during the Masquerade halftime show at Anime Expo 2014.

About The Survey Corps

In 2013, Sonali Samarasena and Kayla Mallari, after choreographing and directing for several dances teams including Common Ground, The Prototypes, and Reality Check, collaborated together to create a dance project under one name that completely encompassed their friendship, camaraderie, and mutual obsession: The Survey Corps.

The crew–comprised of dancers from all over southern California and trained in jazz, ballet, tap and all foundations of hip-hop including waacking and popping–debuted their first competitive set at the hip-hop competition Maxt Out XIII in November 2013, where they placed 2nd in the Major Chor division as well as receiving special recognition awards from the judges.

In April of 2014 they presented their “Attack on Titan” set at Ultimate Brawl XIV, holding true to their name and achieving what the directors had always envisioned: bringing together friends and having walloping geeky time on a stage. Their dance video can be watched below.

With a crew of performers ranging from credits that include Disney, America’s Best Dance Crew, Hip Hop International Champions, Nickolodeon, Diavolo, and a plethora of awarded hip hop teams, The Survey Corps strives to maintain the sheer bliss of dancing, for the love of the art, for the joy of each other, and for the good of humanity.
