The AX Maid Cafe and AX Butler Cafe are now accepting applications for AX 2017 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Deadline to apply is February 1st, 2017 has been extended to February 15, 2017. There will not be multiple application cycles, so be sure to apply before the deadline.

AX Volunteer Requirements:

• Must live in Southern California.
• Must have reliable transportation to attend rehearsal and training sessions in Monterey Park.
• Must have a regularly checked email address.
• Must be 18 years of age or older by January 22nd to attend and participate in any rehearsals.
• Must be in good health to be on your feet for up to 4 hours at a time.
• Must be able to attend 70% of Sunday meeting/training dates located in Monterey Park.
• Must be friendly, work well with others, and enthusiastic.
• Must be comfortable to converse with strangers.
• Must have a government issued ID in order to complete a background check

Dancer Requirements:

• Must attend one out of the two dance auditions located at the Kinjaz Dojo in Monterey Park, CA.
  • Maid Café Dance Audition Dates/Times (Please bring character shoes or heels.)
    • Dec. 11, 2016: 12 – 4 PM
    • Jan. 8, 2017: 12 – 4 PM
  • Butler Café Dance Audition Dates/Time
    • Dec. 11, 2016: 4 – 6 PM
    • Jan. 8, 2017: 4 – 6 PM
  • Things to know beforehand: Bring comfortable shoes (those applying for Maid Cafe should also bring heels/character shoes), water, smiles, and be ready to learn dance counts. Cosplay is welcome, but not required and will not affect consideration for the Maid/Butler Cafe

• Must meet all requirements listed in “AX Volunteer Requirements”.
• Must be able to attend 70% of Sunday dance rehearsal dates (see calendar below) located in Monterey Park at the Kinjaz Dojo.
• Must participate in rehearsals in comfortable clothes.

How to Apply for Maid or Butler Café

1. Apply to be a volunteer at http://bit.ly/SPJAapp, if you have not already.
   • Remember to fill out as much of the application as you can.
2. Within 3 days you will receive an acceptance letter from Shiftboard.
   • Note: The acceptance letter will have your login and temporary password.
3. Go to https://www.shiftboard.com/SPJA/.
4. Log in using your email address and password.
5. Go to your name shown in the upper right corner. A dropdown menu will appear.
6. Click “MyAccount”

7. Click “Profile”
   • 
8. Click “Maid/Butler App”
   • 
9. Fill out all questions.
10. Click “Update” at bottom at bottom left hand corner.
11. You have successfully completed your Maid/Butler Café application!
