Entertainment Group

Audio Visual Technical Division

  • 35mm Film sets up and runs the film projector and associated tech equipment.
  • Console Gaming offers game tournaments and gameplay on Xbox, Playstation 3, and Wii systems.
    • Wi-Fi Gaming is a new addition this year and involves Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, etc.
  • Dance offers a fun nightly themes to dress up to with guest DJs playing live.
  • Karaoke offers singing competitions and all around general singing fun.
  • Live Programming/Workshops sets up and runs the tech equipment for the Live Programming and Workshop rooms.
  • Main Events sets up and runs the tech equipment in Main Events, including the cameras, lights, sound boards, video, and videotaping.
  • Video sets up and runs the DVD players and projectors in the Video rooms.

Guest Relations Division

  • Green Room Hospitality offers food, drinks, reading material and other entertainment in the guest lounge for Guests of Honor. Ensures the overall comfort of Guests.
  • Green Room Programming keeps track of Guests and their schedules and filters press requests.
  • Green Room Transportation ensures that all Guests are transported to their assigned and desired locations.
  • Interpreters offer interpretation and escort services for Guests throughout all the events of Anime Expo.
    • Escort interpreters shadow the Guests and provide any assistance required.
    • Panel interpreters handle interpretations at the Guest Panels.

Programming Division

  • Cosplay hosts the ever popular Masquerade, Midnight Tea, and other in-costume events.
  • Film and Video handles the selection and scheduling for films and videos.
  • Game Show handles events such as Anime Trivia Show, Last Comic Standing and Scavenger Hunt.
  • Live Programming handles panels including moderation and monitors the room for misbehaviors.
  • Main Events handles the seating and the backstage area for Main Events.
  • Programming Operations modifies the schedule as needed at con and oversees the smooth running of the events.
  • Special Events manages the following competitions:
    • Anime Music Video Project – Who has the most creative anime clip sequence set to music?
    • AX Idol – Who will be crowned the winner of AX Idol Singing and AX Idol Voice Acting?
    • Battle of the Bands – Musical combat between live bands… Who will claim victory?
  • Tabletop Gaming offers non-electronic games such as Magic the Gathering, Yugioh, and other card games.
  • Ticketing distributes tickets for concerts and events, handles exchanging hotel vouchers for tickets, and handles lines for ticketed events.
  • Workshops offers interactive educational activities such as How to Draw Manga, The Art of Glowsticking, and Traditional Japanese Dance.


Operations Group

Attendee Services Division

  • Bag Check handles locker services for attendees.
  • Information Services are strategically placed throughout the con to help the lost souls who wander aimlessly. Attendees with disabilities are also helped here.
  • Registration processes attendee memberships and hands out badges and goodie bags.
  • Shuttle Coordinators handle questions about and the organization of the shuttle service from the hotels to the con and back.

Exhibits & Food Division

  • Art Show/Artist Alley exhibits artwork for sale and display and provides a venue where amatuer artists of all mediums can display and sell their original and fan art pieces. Showcases the modeling contest and assists with charity auction.
  • Catering Liaison works with the hotels and LACC to ensure the proper ordering of food services and special food accommodations for certain departments and events.
  • Exhibit Hall provides a venue where exhibitors come to sell their merchandise and promote their current projects.
  • Maid Café offers a fun-filled environment of food, games, and live performances with a master/servant theme.
  • Manga Lounge offers a multitude of manga that can be enjoyed in a quiet and peaceful environment.
  • Merchandising sells Anime Expo branded merchandise from their booth and along the attendee lines.
  • Summer Festival affords a venue of traditional Japanese crafts, food, games and live entertainment.

Facilities Division

  • Access Control patrol the convention and ensure the safety of attendees. They direct traffic flow, organize lines, and deal with ravening mobs.
  • Convention Operations are the “NERV” center of the convention. Brick command central that regulates all activities of the convention, takes damage control reports, and disciplines all participants who defy the rules and regulations of Anime Expo.
  • Logistics ensure the proper transportation of all material to and from the convention site for all departments.
  • Volunteers gather necessary attendee volunteers at con and distribute the much needed man power to any and all departments.
