Chibi Masquerade

The mini version of Masquerade, Chibi Masquerade serves as a great way to see great skits without the long lines and the stress of competition. This event is often a starting ground for the best and brightest in Masquerades to come– you can see them first here.   Come sign up at the Cosplay Events Office to strut your stuff!

Updates

Chibi Masquerade Sign Up Information

  1. Sign ups for Chibi Masquerade will be taken at the Cosplay Events Office for that day’s event, up to 30 minutes before the event begins.
  2. If time permits, additional sign ups may be taken during the Chibi Masquerade event.
  3. Participants may sign up for Chibi Masquerade on each day the event takes place, and participate in each event even if they have participated in an earlier event.
  4. Once you have signed up, please make sure you go to the event and check in with the coordinator so that they know you are present and you will be allowed to perform.

Chibi Masquerade Conduct Rules

  1. Participants must adhere to the Anime Expo® Code of Conduct. This applies to costumes and performance. If it is not allowed in a PG rated film, then it is not allowed in this event.
  2. No swearing. You will be removed from the event if you swear.
  3. All Props must conform to Anime Expo®’s Weapons Policy.
  4. All participants must be respectful and careful of each other, their costumes, and props at all times. Willful damage of costumes and/or props as well as inappropriate manners toward other participants or staff will result in removal from the event.
  5. For safety reasons flash powder, fireworks, lasers, electrical flashes, smoke machines, and open flame are not allowed.

Chibi Masquerade Costume Rules

  1. This event is open to all costumers, regardless of what the costume is from or if it is home made or purchased.
  2. Costumes must be self-contained. Connections to electrical sockets will not be available.

Chibi Masquerade Performance Rules

  1. Entries for Chibi Masquerade will appear on stage in first check in, first on stage order.
  2. Groups are limited to a maximum of 8 members.
  3. There is a 3 minute time limit for skits and other performances. Performances that run longer than 3 minutes will be stopped.
  4. Pre-recorded audio will be taken at check-in for the event. Only CDs will be accepted.
  5. Any presentations with stunts or shocking performances must be cleared with the Chibi Masquerade Coordinator.
  6. Participants are prohibited from jumping or running off stage.
  7. Do not leave anything on the stage that can not be quickly and easily picked up.
  8. Narration to be read by the MC must be 35 words or less. Any narratives will be read before performances and costumers’ information will be read afterwards.
  9. Interaction with the MC is not permitted during a performance.
