The Anime Expo® Art Show is a tradition running back well over ten years.  The Art Show provides artists a place where their works can be displayed and even sold–unlike the Artist’s Alley, the Art Show is where artists can place their more intricate works.  Large pieces, small pieces–’two-d’ and ‘three-d’ art are all welcome at the Art Show.

The Art Show also encompasses the Modeling Contest, a popular contest where models–handmade, painted, and arranged–can be entered to win prizes and acclaim.

Update: 2/23/2008

Hey everyone sorry for the late posting but things have been hectic over here. Well we’re back online again and ready to take your questions so if you’ve got them just fire away in the forums. One thing we’ve been hearing a lot are questions about our new home; we are located in the L.A. convention center and while some may not like it we assure you that all will be well. The facilities there are amazing and we are definitely looking forward to working with everyone to make this year’s 2008 Expo the best one yet!

Requirements for Participating (as an artist) in Anime Expo® 2008 Art Show:

  • Valid 4-day Anime Expo® registration
  • If there is intent to sell artwork through the Art Show, a valid W-9 form must be provided
  • Participating artists must read, agree, comply, and sign the Anime Expo® 2008 Art Show Contract.  The contract will be provided along with other documents necessary for the Art Show.

Registration for the Art Show:
Registration will be done via the Anime Expo® registration website.  As stated above, a full four-day membership must be purchased in order to register for the Art Show–there are no exceptions.

Fees:
The fees for registration for the Anime Expo® Art Show are as follows (though are subject to change):

  • 3 ft. x 6 ft. panel: $20.00
  • 3 ft. x 3 ft. panel: $10
  • Easel: $8
  • 1/2 Table: $5
  • Walk-in Fee: $6

All policies and procedures of the Anime Expo® 2008 Art Show are spelled out within the contract; please read it very carefully.  All artists who sign the contract will be held responsible for the policies within without exception.  The rules haven’t changed since last year, so if you were prepared then you’ll be prepared now.

In the future:
Further codification of policies and procedures, information on possible upcoming events.  We are working on some events and concepts that we hope will be very exciting for Anime Expo® fan-artists!

Hobbylink Japan has graciously agreed to sponsor the Modeling Contest! They will be providing the prizes for the event. Last year they provided several modeling kits—who knows what they will supply this year?
