- All contestants must be attending members in good standing of Anime Expo®.
- All Skit entries must be 2 minutes or less and all Walk-On entries must be 1 minute or less. Performances that run longer than their allowed time limit will be stopped at the 2 minute or 1 minute time mark and contestant(s) will be removed from the stage.
- Contestants must adhere to the Anime Expo® Code of Conduct. This applies to their costumes and performance. If it is not allowed in a PG-13 rated film, then it is not allowed in this event.
- All characters in a group must be from an anime, manga, video game or non theater live action anime/manga/video game based franchise. Crossovers are permissible upon Cosplay Events Manager and Masquerade Coordinator approval.
- Entries are limited to 10 members without additional approval. Up to 2 additional members can be added upon Cosplay Events Manager and Masquerade Coordinator approval.
- Contestants may request a particular time frame to be on stage (ie first, middle, or last) from the Masquerade Coordinator. Any objections over the final presentation order may result in disqualification.
- All contestants must be respectful and careful of each other, their costumes and props at all times. Willful damage of costumes and/or props as well as inappropriate manners toward other contestants or staff will result in disqualification.
- Contestants are prohibited from jumping or running off stage.
- The use of Flash Powder, Fireworks, Lasers, Electrical Flashes or Smoke Machines are prohibited.
- Do not leave anything on the stage that can not be quickly and easily picked up by stage hands.
- Narration to be read by the MC must be 35 words or less. Any narratives will be read before performances and costumers information will be read afterwards.
- Interaction with the MC is prohibited. All performances must be self contained within the group.
- All contestants may only participate in a single costume entry. An entry is one competition unit that may only appear once on stage during the competition.
- Any presentations with stunts or shocking performances must be cleared with the Coordinators before the event. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification.
Please check with the Masquerade Coordinators if there are questions about certain aspects of your costume and/or performance. Do not risk disqualification and possible expulsion from the convention by wearing or behaving inappropriately on stage.
