In 2006, they had a mini DDR competition and I was wondering if they'd host one again. I'm not sure if it was AX themselves, or a booth, but I remember the prizes 8D

AX hasn't had a DDR contest since 2003. We don't ever plan on having one again since quite frankly it's dead. Also, it would be up to the arcade vendors and they have no interest in running one.

Uum... Idk if you checked out the arcade last year...but there were really long lines for both ddr machines...so to say its dead is totally bogus... Judging from what I saw last year...if you guys held a ddr tourney a LOT of people would go. I know I got asked at least 50 times by different people if there was going to be a ddr tourney. There SHOULD be one...But I complained about it last year so I'm not going to start again... I just think its ridiculous that you won't even consider it.Also...is there anyway of contacting the vendors? I mean no offense but I like to hear thing from the people themselves...

First of all, I RUN the arcade as it's Division manager, I have for the past 6 years at AX. The DDR TOURNEY scene is dead. I know for a fact since I have some friends and staffers that were actually World ranked. Yes, it is still popular to the casual fan, but that does not mean the tournament scene is strong. There used to be tons of arcade tournaments, now you'd be lucky to find one. I remember you saying you have never been to Ax so I would like to know how you were asked 50 times about a DDR tourney. Besides, DDR tourneys lose money, expecially in a con where there is only a 4 day window. Without going into the details, we (vendors and AX) aren't going to run a tournament where we'll lose money. As for the vendors, you can talk to them at con. DDR will continue to be in our arcade however. It is still a fun game to play. Topic Closed.
