The DEEP SEKH Tournament is returning for Anime Expo 2008!
There have been a number of changes to the tournament over the last year, including notably expanding options for play style. I'm happy to say that DEEP SEKH will feature a character creation system this year! In addition, the game is faster and easier to play than before! No longer are characters required to destroy one another in martial combat; warriors and scholars of all colors and creeds now have equal footing in their bid for greater power.
The enormous cast of pre-generated characters from previous tournaments will be returning as well. Players can choose either to adopt a higher-level pre-generated character, or to start a fresh character from 1st level.
Playable Races for original characters include:
Humans, dwarves, elves, gnomes, halflings, half-elves, half-orcs, goblins, hobgoblins, and kobolds.
The DEEP SEKH Tournament is a team-based event, and as such, players will team up and characters will be forced to work together to realize their dreams. Each player controls a single character (a change from previous tournaments) and will be paired up with one other player; the fates of their characters are intertwined.

* DEEP SEKH is turn-based, with each player taking a single turn. Certain actions may only be performed on one's own turn, however certain actions may be saved or used on the turns of others.
* Characters are free to wander the city and encounter its many denizens; with a good lead and the right preparation, they may Adventure into the unknown, seeking greater fortune. The success or failure of a character often depends on those friends she's made throughout her journey, through her many and varied Contacts.
* Encounters can occur in every city district and will often require a skill check of some type to reap their benefits.
* As before, DEEP SEKH remains very competitive, and as such, characters are free to raid and sabotage one another throughout the course of the game. Character death doesn't occur during normal play, and there's no way to be permanently "eliminated." Be warned that focusing your character towards player-versus-player combat doesn't necessarily help you advance as quickly as working the system might otherwise.
* Finally, due to the fluid nature of the game, it is possible for players to join in or drop out at any time, with minimal impact on the flow of gameplay. It is possible to pick up your character and play for a few hours, depart for the showing of an anime, a contest or other event, and return to pick up adventuring again upon your return.
