Anime Expo® is committed to ensuring that attendees with disabilities have equal access to all convention programs, facilities, and activities. Policy and procedures have been developed to provide attendees with as much independence as possible, to preserve confidentiality, and to provide attendees with disabilities the same exceptional opportunities available to all attendees. Anime Expo® will arrange for reasonable accommodations for all qualified attendees with documented disabilities.
It is the responsibility of the attendee requesting reasonable accommodations to provide documentation of their disability to a Disabled Services Coordinator or Liaison. Documentation should be current, demonstrate the existence of a disability, support the reasonable accommodations requested by the attendee, and have been conducted by a qualified examiner. A few examples of acceptable documentation are:
- Doctor’s note, provided on a medical memo
- Handicap placard
All referrals are confidential and whether or not to disclose the nature of the disability to anyone else is left up to the attendee.
Anime Expo® provides a range of accommodations to those attendees who are disabled and have met with a Disabled Services Coordinator or Liaison. The following are a few examples that can be found at this year’s convention:
- Preferential Seating at Main Events (please present priority access badge provided by Disabled Services Coordinator)
- A priority access badge to Main Events for escorts in your party (limit two, escorts must also present their attendee badge)
To talk with a Disabled Services Coordinator at Anime Expo®, please see the Information Booth located in the Registration Hall, or the Information Booth located in the South Hall Lobby after receiving your attendee badge. A follow up guide of services and policies will be issued when receiving the complimentary priority access badge. Attendees with disabilities are encouraged to contact the Disabled Services Coordinator at with any questions or special requests.
Anime Expo® does not have wheelchairs or other aids for attendees. Attendees requiring such assistance should contact private companies who rent them like those listed below. Anime Expo® encourages attendees to arrange these services prior to the convention since companies are not located on the convention site.
