Q: How do I register for a press badge?
A: Press and Industry Online Registration is now closed. You can apply on-site on June 30th from 3:00pm-8:00pm or July 1st-3rd from 9:00am-6:00pm outside of room 309. Please be sure to bring proper credentials which must include at least 2 of the following: business card, company photo ID, paystub, printed staff list from website and/or article(s) written by you. You must also bring a photo ID.
Q: How do I know if I meet the qualifications for an Anime Expo press pass?

Q: I recently applied for a press badge. How long until I hear whether or not I’ve been approved?
A: The waiting time is 2 weeks or less.
Q: Does my press badge come with a guest pass?
A: No. Only the person whose name is on the badge is allowed entry. Every individual must register for his or her own badge.
Q: I plan on bringing a camera operator or photographer to the event with me. Does he/she need to register as well?
A: Yes. Each individual MUST have their own pass. No guest passes are issued – every member of your team must register for a pass either online or on-site.
Q: I need to register for my entire team. Is this possible?
A: Yes, but you’ll need their basic info handy (full name, address, email, qualifications, etc.) A confirmation email will then be sent to them and they’ll need to finalize the registration on their own.
Please note: Complimentary press passes are limited to 5/people per company. If your team consists of more than 5 people, additional employees can gain entrance at a discounted daily rate of $15/day (available at the press registration area).
Q: I will only be at Anime Expo for a few hours. Do I still need to register?
A: Yes. We have roaming security throughout the LACC that will stop you from entering the exhibit hall or programming rooms if you do not have a badge. Please either apply online or on-site for your press badge.
Q: I’m a freelance reporter. Will I be accepted?
A: Freelance reporters must present at least 2 articles authored by them that have been featured on either an online or print news magazine.
Q: A pre-approved member of my team is not able to make it. Can I send someone else in their place?
A: No. Each badge issued belongs only to the person whose name is on the badge. If you are going to send someone else, they need to apply either online or on-site.
Q: I was not approved for a press badge and feel this was an error. Where can I send my credentials?
A: Please send a scanned copy of your credentials via email to press@anime-expo.org. Or, you may fax it to Attn: Press Dept. (714) 937-1298. If you have questions on what to include, please visit the following link: http://www.anime-expo.org/registration/press/
Q: I wasn’t able to register before the online cut-off date. Can I still apply?
A: Yes! We will hold on-site registration June 30-July 4th at the LACC in Room 309. Please bring a business card and picture ID. If you do not have these items, Anime Expo reserves the right to refuse a complimentary pass.
Q: Does my press badge give me access to all ticketed events?
A: No. Your press badge grants you access to the LACC’s exhibit hall, common areas and surrounding programming rooms. If you would like to attend a ticketed event (concerts, Masquerade, etc.), you may sign up for a complimentary pass the morning of the event.
A limited number of tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will begin sign-ups for tickets at 9:00am the morning of the ticketed event in the press registration area. If you did not receive a complimentary ticket, you may purchase a ticket at the ticketing booth prior to the event. If you’d like to make sure you reserve your ticket ahead of time, you can always purchase a ticket online while applying for your press badge.
Q: Can you send me my press badge in the mail so I don’t have to pick it up?
A: No. Due to security purposes, you must present a valid picture ID to an Anime Expo staff member in order to pick up your press badge.
Q: When / where can I pick up my press badge?
A: We will email all approved members of the press a detailed description of when, where and how to pick up your press badge once that information is confirmed. If you plan on registering on-site, note that registration will take place in the LACC Room 309.
Q: Can I send a runner to pick up my company’s press badges or do I need to do it in person?
A: Each individual must pick up his or her press badge in person. A valid picture ID must also be presented.
Q: Do I need to carry my press badge with me everywhere?
A: Yes. You will not be allowed entry into the exhibit hall or any Anime Expo event without it. No exceptions.
Q: What if I lose my press badge on-site?
A: In the event that you lose your badge, please visit the press registration area and we will issue you a new badge.
Q: How do I get on the Anime Expo press mailing list?
A: The Anime Expo press mailing list receives all pertinent programming and guest announcements for AX 2011. Please email press@anime-expo.org with the subject line “Add To Mailing List.”
Q: Will there be interpreters on hand for the guest panels and press conferences?
A: No. You should plan to bring an interpreter if you are signed up to interview a non-English speaking guest.
Q: Who can I talk to about obtaining an official interview from an Anime Expo representative? Who can I talk to get more info or background on Anime Expo 2011?

Q: Photo / Video Policy
A: Below is a working version of our photo and video policy. However, these guidelines are subject to change. A complete photo and video policy will be issued to you when you check in for your badge.
At no point should any footage taken at Anime Expo be sold for profit. Photography and video is permissible in the common areas of the LACC and in most panels. You will be notified by the panel moderator or a posted sign if photo/video are not allowed in that particular event. Please respect our attendees’ and Guests’ wishes if they decline to be photographed or filmed. Failure to comply with this request can result in expulsion from Anime Expo.
- Opening /Closing Ceremonies/AX Idol: Non-flash photography / video allowed throughout.
- Masquerade: Non-flash photography / video allowed throughout. Press may also gather in the 1st Floor of the Wachovia Room in the Nokia Theater for prime photo opportunities.
- Hatsune Miku Concert: Non-flash photography is allowed throughout from the press seating area only. NO VIDEOTAPING is allowed. The Miku team will be providing video footage for press members to use soon after the convention.
- Kalafina/Kurosaki/Mignogna Concerts: You may videotape from the balcony area (near press seating section) in Club Nokia during the first 20 minutes of the event only. Please return to your seats after the first 20 minutes. Non-flash photography is allowed throughout.
- Nirgilis Concert: You may videotape from the balcony area (near press seating section) in Club Nokia during the first 3 songs of the event only. Please return to your seats after the first 3 songs. Non-flash photography is allowed during the first 3 songs of the event only.
Q: What is the best or most exciting day to attend AX?
A: Well, we think every day is exciting. But if you’re looking for a particular type of event, please check out our online schedule to find what you’d most like to attend. The 2011 Schedule will be posted in May. Your press badge will allow you access to Anime Expo’s exbhit hall and non-tickets events all 4 days.
Q: I want to help advertise for Anime Expo on my website. Do you have images available for download?
A: Yes! 2011 Banners will be uploaded shortly.
Q: Do you have a shuttle reserved for press?
A: Yes. Approved press are able to board the dedicated Anime Expo shuttles for ease of travel between the LACC and AX Block Hotels July 1 – 4 7:00am – 9:00pm. Boarding locations can be found in the Program Guide. Press badge must be shown before boarding shuttle.
Q: Where can I get information about the Guests of Honor?
A: Once announced, all guest biographies can be found on our website under the “Guests” tab on the home navigation bar.

Press Junket
Q: When will the Press Junket sign-ups begin?
A: Sign-ups will be open to all approved members of the press in mid-June. You will be emailed once the form is available. You may then fill in your desired guest interviews and times.
Q: How do you determine slots for Press Junket?
A: Interview requests will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once compiled, the final interview schedule will be emailed to you before the event.
Q: Will you have interpreters at the Press Junket?
A: No. Please plan to bring an interpreter with you if you’d like to interview a non-English speaking guest.
Q: How long will I get with each Guest?
A: You will be allowed 15 minutes. Photo and video is permissible.
Q: I see the Press Junket starts before press registration opens up. What do I need to bring with me to check in for my interviews?
A: Please bring a business card and picture ID.
Q: Are the press junket interviews recorded?
A: No, but feel free to bring camera equipment of your own. Please keep in mind, however, that the 15 minutes you are allotted with each guest must include set-up and tear down of your equipment.
Q: I was not able to attend the Press Junket. Can I still schedule an interview with the Guests of Honor?
A: Unfortunately, no. The Guests of Honor have very busy schedules and will not be available for one-on-one interviews outside of the Press Junket.
Q: I noticed one of your Guests of Honor was not included on the Press Junket list. Was this an error? How can I schedule an interview with that person?
A: The Guest of Honor was not included because their schedule did not permit it. Usually, we will hold a press conference in its place for all interested press to attend. You will be handed a press conference schedule when you pick up your badge on-site.
Red Carpet
Q: Will we be able to interview the guests on the red carpet?
A: It depends on the Guest. You may ask the Guest as they are walking the red carpet if they have time for 1-2 questions. Please do not pester the Guest.
Q: Will we be able to photograph?
A: Of course!
Q: Do I need my press badge to gain access?
A: Yes. Please make sure you’ve picked up your press badge before the Red Carpet event begins.
