In 2009, the halls of Anime Expo were filled with the glorious sounds of note ninjas engaged in combat. Once the dust settled, only one group stood victorious. These warriors of rock were declared champions as their names were celebrated throughout the land…

Time has passed, and a new battleground has appeared. Powerful titans will clash and musical weapons of myth will be wielded by only the most masterful of muses in preparation for supreme combat. Do you wish to join the insane musical combat? Do you dream about the glory of victory? Then get ready…because this battle is not for the weak.

Feb 2, 2010 – Updated website and social network pages for 2010! Bands have already been emailing in, asking about registration. Reg goes live on 2/15/10.
Feb 15, 2010 – BotB 2010 registration is now open! Be sure to check out for this year’s changes before registering.

Rules

1. Auditions must include an mp3 audio recording of your performance, and a jpeg photograph of of the performers.
2. Each group can perform multiple songs, as long as at least one song falls within the following categories:
   1. Anime TV series/OVA/Movie (Opening/Ending/Main Theme/Soundtrack)
   2. Anime-Themed Videogame (Opening/Ending/Main Theme/Soundtrack)
3. If performing multiple songs, you are allowed to perform one j-rock/j-pop song that is not Anime-related, as long as the other songs performed fall within the categories listed above.
4. Performances must be no longer than 8 min. in length.
5. There must be a minimum of 3 members per band, no more than 8 members per band are allowed.
6. If chosen as one of the finalists, all band members must perform during the event, no exceptions.
7. No professionals are allowed to participate. Any performers who are found out to be as such will be disqualified.
8. There must be at least one instrument used during the performance, no acapella.
9. The top finalists will be contacted by BOTB staff to confirm their participation in the at-con performance. A list of the finalists will be posted on the Anime Expo® and BOTB websites.
10. If chosen as one of the finalists, your performance piece will be the same as your audition piece.
11. If chosen as one of the finalists, and auditioning for AX Idol, you will not be able to perform the same song at both events.
