AX Console Gaming Tournament Schedule and Rules
General rules and information for tournaments:
You can sign up for any tournament starting when the game room opens. The entry fee for each tournament will be $5 (cash only), and those fees will be split amongst the winners (70/20/10) with 10% of the total fees being kept by the SPJA to cover tournament costs. You can use your own custom stick so long as it is wired (except for Tatsunoko v. Capcom and Super Smash Bros. where we will allow wireless controllers). We will have two Madcatz fightsticks (regular edition), 2 Sega Saturn USB pads, and Sony DualShock pads for PS3 games and many Gamecube pads for Smash Brothers. Whoever has signed up first, gets preference for pads when their match comes up. Due to the limited number of pads we have available, we strongly recommend you bring your own or sign up early if you do have a preference!

Match Flow
The first round is played on one of the 3 starter stages (listed above). Each player crosses off a stage from the list, leaving 1 stage left, which is selected. After the first round, winner gets to choose one stage from either stage list that he would like to “ban” his opponent from choosing for the next round. Then, the loser selects a stage. Then, the player who won chooses a character, followed by the player who lost. The round is then played with those characters on that stage.
For any necessary additional rounds, the paragraph above applies to how the stage and characters are chosen.
Note: These rules exist to keep character advantages and stage balances in check in terms of balanced gameplay.
