NEW UPDATED RULES

Significant changes have been applied to the Anime Expo® 2009 rules and skill levels. Please read through the entire sections pertaining to the event you wish to participate. It is the participant’s responsibility to read and understand the rules and guidelines pertaining to the event in question. Violation of Anime Expo® Code of Conduct, Anime Expo® Weapons Policy and/or Anime Expo® Cosplay Events Rules may result in disqualification from all Anime Expo® 2009 Cosplay Events.

Online Registration System

An online registration system has been adopted for Anime Expo® 2009. This applies to Masquerade, Pop Shock Masquerade, Masquerade Ball and Midnight Tea. Any other method of event registration will not be used.

All entries will be prescreened to ensure entries do not violate Anime Expo® Cosplay Events Rules and if we can accommodate any special requests.

All correspondence can be submitted by e-mail thru the online contact form or by mail.

Please use the following address for CD and waiver form submissions.

Cosplay Events Weapons Policy & Waiver Form

All questions regarding the Anime Expo® Weapons Policy should be sent to Anime Expo® Access Control Dept either by using the Anime Expo® Contact Form or by Anime Expo® Forums.
For the Contact Form, please use “Weapons Policy” in the Subject box and select “General” for the department, to ensure that your questions will go to the correct person.

For the Forums, please post your question(s) on the Weapons Policy thread.

All contestants of Anime Expo® 2009 Cosplay Events must fill out and mail in a completed General Release & Waiver Form to participate in any event.

Please note that in order to participate in the event, you must have signed up beforehand. Simply filling a General Release & Waiver Form is not enough to grant you participation in the event. There will be at-con sign-ups for certain events so don’t worry too much if you did not register online.

Anime Expo®’s Code of Conduct states:

“Public exposure of genitalia, buttocks or (female) breasts is not permitted. When choosing and creating your costume, please keep in mind the constraints of local laws and customs concerning public decency. Just because an anime character wears only a face mask, you may not do so. Sturdy and fitted costumes are required; you should not be falling out of your costume and it should not be falling apart around you. Also, remember to have proper support such as bras and athletic cups, especially if you plan to be physically active, i.e., dancing or running.”
