Turn your love of anime into support for charitable causes
Anime Expo works with our special guests from the industry to provide one-of-a-kind items for the annual Charity Auction. By bidding on original sketches, autographed scripts, limited edition swag, and other signed items, you can do your part to support charities like CHOC, Japan Society’s Earthquake Relief Fund, the Japanese American National Museum, and Red Cross International.
In AX 2015, the funds raised by our charity auction were for CARE’s Earthquake Relief Fund for Nepal, which was devastated by two deadly earthquakes in April and May 2015.
Anime Expo is honored to announce Animator Dormitory as the recipient for the AX 2017 Charity Auction!
The Charity Auction will feature items donated by AX 2017 Guests of Honor such as signed merchandise, memorabilia, and original artwork, including a signed piece of artwork by Akira Himekawa. To see and bid on the donations, visit Charity Auction on Monday, July 4 at 10 AM in LP3 (408AB).
Anime Expo is excited to give back to the people who help create anime by supporting Animator Dormitory. Our goal for AX 2017 is to raise $10,000.
The Animator Dormitory provides discounted housing to new animators in the Tokyo area. The nonprofit responsible for the Animator Dormitory, Animator’s Support Organization, was first established in 2010. Since its inception, they have been able to acquire two locations, which can house a total of six animators. They are planning to add another location in order to house a total of eight animators. Several people who have stayed at the dormitory have worked as animation directors in series such as Gundam Reconquista in G, Naruto Shippuden, and Psycho Pass 2.
