Hotel Booking Policies

The following policies apply to all attendees (Premier Fan, Exhibitor, Press, Industry, Artist Alley) who book a reservation through the Anime Expo Official Hotel Block.

Please note that ConferenceDirect is the official housing service for Anime Expo and the only place to book rooms at the AX 2018 hotel block rates. If you choose to use another hotel booking site or book directly with the hotel, any customer service inquiries must be handled by the respective booking service that you used.

Booking Guidelines

  • A valid credit card is needed to make a reservation.
  • Reservations are non-transferrable.
  • Depending on the hotel, you must be at least 18 or 21 years of age to check into a room.

Update: 2/26/2018

To avoid errors while booking your reservation, do not have the hotel booking site open in multiple tabs or windows.

Once you have selected your room nights, you have a 5-minute window, where your room cannot be removed from your cart, to input your personal and payment information. If you do not complete the reservation within this time, your room nights are no longer secured and can be taken by another attendee.

Reservation Requirements (Updated 1/29/2018)

Due to the high demand for some of our participating hotels, arrivals will not be accepted on Friday or Saturday. This means that arrivals must be on Thursday or earlier and must encompass both Friday and Saturday nights. Hotels affected by these new reservation requirements include JW Marriott, Residence Inn, Courtyard, Ritz Carlton, Luxe, Indigo, and InterContinental. Subject to change.”

Guarantee Policy

All hotels will require a major credit card at the time of booking to guarantee a reservation. Upon check-in, certain hotels will require an advance deposit for the amount of the room and/or hotel incidentals per night. After you check-out and the hotel confirms that there are no room damages, the incidental deposit will be refunded and your credit card will be charged for the hotel stay.

One Room Per Name

Individuals cannot book multiple rooms under the same name. Multiple rooms can be booked under the same credit card but under a different name. Anyone found to have multiple rooms in his/her name will have all but the first reservation cancelled without notice.

Paying for  Reservation on Behalf of Someone Else

If you are making a payment for a hotel reservation on behalf of someone else and will not be staying at the hotel, a Credit Card Authorization form must be filled out and provided to the hotel prior to arrival. To request the Credit Card Authorization form, please reach out to ConferenceDirect at

Max Occupancy Per Room

Maximum room occupancy may vary per hotel. An additional fee may be incurred for more than two people and/or a rollaway bed. Please refer to the hotel grid below for more information.

Wristband Policy

Some hotels may provide registered guests with wristbands at the time of check-in. Only the number of guests registered will receive the wristband. Guests must wear the wristband to access the guest room elevators.

Cancellation Policy

Updated 1/26/2018: Any reservations that are cancelled after 9 PM PT on May 14th will be assessed a $50 fee per room. This new deadline is to encourage earlier cancellations, rather than cancelling closer to the AX event dates, per the hotel cancellation policies. Earlier cancellations will help allow for as many attendees as possible to be able to utilize the available hotel space during Anime Expo 2018. Please note that all hotel’s respective policies will still apply. As such, cancellations made closer to your arrival date (48 - 72 hours or 7 days, depending on each hotel’s respective cancellation policy) will result in an increased fee equal to one night’s room and tax.

Each hotel has a different deadline for when you can request a reservation cancellation without incurring any charges or penalties. Please refer to the hotel grid below for more information.
