ANNUAL ANIME EXPO CHARITY AUCTION BENEFITS CHOC CHILDREN’S

November 19, 2009

CHOC Children’s was the recipient of the 17th Annual Anime Charity Auction proceeds. The event was held by The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA) on July 2-5, 2009 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. More than $25,000 was generated for CHOC through the charity art auction.

“We are honored to be selected by the SPJA as this year’s benefiting charity. Since 2006, SPJA has donated close to $85,000 to support CHOC Children’s and our programs,” said Winnie Tran, Corporate Relations Manager, CHOC Children’s Foundation. “This year’s proceeds will benefit the hospital’s Child Life program.”

The Anime Expo® is sponsored by SPJA, and is a forum for enthusiasts of the industry involved in Anime, Manga, Games and the Culture of Japan. It is the largest convention of its kind in the U.S. for Japanese animation fans and industry professionals. The 2009 attendance figures are estimated at 44,000.
