Calling all dancers! If you are interested in participating as a volunteer performer for any of our upcoming Anime Expo 2020 shows – this is your chance! We are on the lookout for dedicated individuals with any levels of experience to be potentially cast in Maid Cafe, Butler Cafe or After Hours. Just drop by for the auditions, no prior signups necessary!
Audition Date: Sunday, January 26, 2020
Location: Athletic Garage Dance Center (121 Waverly Dr, Pasadena, CA 91105)
Detailed Times:
- 10 AM: Maid Cafe 18+
- 10 AM: Butler Cafe
- 11:30 AM: Maid Cafe All Ages
- 11:30 AM: After Hours
- 1 PM: Dance Audition of All Shows
- 3:30 PM: Group Interviews

After Hours
- Must be 21 or older by March 1, 2020
- Looking to cast (4) dancers and (2) understudies
- Bring heels to this audition
- Role Description: Stage Kittens
- The After Hours Stage Kittens will be dancing and performing kitty-cat mischief for the Emcees and Talented Performers of After Hours. Bring your best feline physicality and spicy dance movements to this audition. Be aware that this immersive show will have adult jokes and sexual innuendos.
Butler Cafe
- Must be 18 or older by March 1, 2020
- Looking to cast (10 – 15) dancers
- Role Description: Butlers
- Butlers will be romancing and sharing shoujo filled moments with guests via dance performances. Bring your smiles, foot-work and up-beat attitudes to this audition. This dance cast will be expected to perform dance routines that will cater to the All Ages and 18+ Butler Cafe shows.
Maid Cafe
- Must be 18 or older by March 1, 2020
- Looking to cast (1) team of (10 – 15) dancers for Maid Cafe: All Ages and (1) team of (10 – 15) dancers for Maid Cafe: After Dark (18+ Show).
- Role Description: Maid (All Ages)
- Maids will be showering the crowd with moe and kawaii behavior via dance performance. Bring your smiles and genki-filled attitudes to this audition. This dance cast will be expected to perform dances movements that caters to an All Ages audience.
- Role Description: Bunny (After Dark: 18+)
- Bunnies will be flouncing and flirting via dance performances for the audience. Bring heels and be ready to strut with confidence for this audition. This dance cast will be expected to perform sultry dance movements and be aware that there will be 18+ content within these performances.

AX Volunteer Requirements
- Must live in Southern California.
- Must have reliable transportation to attend rehearsal and training sessions in Pasadena, CA.
- Must have a regularly checked email address or Facebook
- Must have a minimum of 40-hour commitment scheduled (may include both pre-con and at-con hours).
- Must be available for all of Anime Expo from July 1 – July 5, 2020.
- Complete department-specific training and requirements (see training and rehearsal schedule above).
- Adhere to all SPJA volunteer policies/guidelines.
