Cosplay Universe celebrates the rise of the global fandom costuming sub-culture and explores the evolution of cosplay. The film features one of the last interviews with comic book legend Stan Lee and features the stories of cosplay superstars Kamui Cosplay, Yaya Han as well as many other amazing cosplayers.
Cosplay Universe dives deep into this world and taps into the psychology behind this art of self-expression. It demonstrates how cosplayers can transform and expand their perceptions of themselves while finding community.
The film was shot over five years at conventions around the U.S. (including Anime Expo) as well as the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan.
