After working as an animator on numerous projects at Toei Animation, OLM, and Ajiado, he transitioned to directing in the early 2000s. He made his directorial debut with “Charlotte” and went on to direct titles such as “Fate/Apocrypha” and “The Day I Became a God”. His work “Buddy Daddies” won the Best Original Anime Award at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024.

He is known for his skill in depicting ensemble youth dramas and everyday life, with a reputation for directing that carefully portrays the sense of distance and relationships between characters.
