Join CEO of D’ART Shtajio, Arthell Isom as he discusses the steps needed to forge a successful career within the anime industry as a foreigner. Having lived in Japan for 15 years now, Isom started his animation career as a background artist at Ogura Kobou, founded by the Art Director of “Ghost in the Shell”, and has faced several challenges along the way. The East meets West panel is designed to help interested artists avoid the pitfalls of the industry and help prepare them for what to expect culturally, artistically, and professionally.

Arthell Isom is a Background Artist, Director, Art Director, and first and foremost, the CEO of Tokyo based animation studio, D’ART Shtajio. Arthell has lived in Japan for 15 years and has spent his time extensively studying and/or working in the Japanese animation industry. Isom began his career as a background artist at Ogura Kobou, founded by the Art Director of “Ghost in the Shell” — and professional inspiration and since has worked on a number of anime-related shorts, feature films and everything in between. Arthell’s journey to success has been intensive; challenging him to evolve and grow within his craft to inspire and lead others.
