Kamiyama directed "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex," co-directed Netflix's "Ultraman" and "Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045," created "The Ninth Jedi" for "Star Wars: Visions," and most recently directed "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim" (2024).

After contributing to notable titles such as “Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade” (Unit Director / 2000) and “Blood: The Last Vampire” (Screenwriter / 2000), the director made a debut with “Mini Pato” (2002). Following this, Kamiyama served as the director and series composer for the TV anime series “Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex” (2002–2005), which became a massive hit.

 

Since 2017, collaborative work with Shinji Aramaki has produced several full 3DCG anime projects. Their 2019 series “Ultraman” became the most-watched anime title on Netflix that year. In 2020, the full 3DCG anime “Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045,” also co-directed with Aramaki, was released globally on Netflix. The following year, Kamiyama created “The Ninth Jedi” as an installment of the nine-part anthology anime “Star Wars: Visions,” distributed worldwide on Disney+. In December 2024, the director’s latest feature film, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim,” was released in theaters.
